Clémentine Beauvais, guest at South Ken Kids Festival 2018

Author of children and young adult's literature, translator and so much more, Clémentine Beauvais will be one of our wonderful guests at the South Ken Kids Festival this year.

Clémentine Beauvais

French author and translator Clémentine Beauvais is a lecturer in English and Education at the University of York. Besides her research, she writes in English and in French for Young Adults and has won several awards for her children’s books and albums. Her book Hello Monster! is published this year by Thames and Hudson, and Piglettes was published in 2017 by Pushkin Children’s Books. She has also translated Sarah Crossan’s One into French for Rageot.

In her last young adult book, Brexit Romance published by Éditions Sarbacane, she imagines a post-referendum Britain where a 21-year-old girl sets up a start-up: ️Brexit Romance, that organises arranged marriages between French and British citizens for them to get a European passport. The only condition is not to fall in love, and this is where it gets complicated.

Clémentine will discuss Brexit with her friend and writer Julian Sedgwick during a special talk on Sunday 25 November at the South Ken Kids Festival.
