Franco-British Children's Publishers Meeting

A Franco-British Children's Publishers Meeting will be taking place on 24 and 25 June; organised by the BIEF (Bureau International de l'Edition Française), in cooperation with the Institut français.

The BIEF encourages dialogue between French and English children's publishers. During these two days, 60 publishers from both sides of the Channel will come together to discuss the state of children's publishing markets in both countries and seek further collaboration.


Programme


Monday 24 June

  • 10.30am Introduction and overview of children’s publishing markets in France and the United-Kingdom with Nicolas Roche (BIEF) and Jouda Fahari-Edine (Quarto)

  • 11am-11.30am Questions on rights acquisition and co-editions – What French and British publishers look for in foreign acquisitions with Jouda Fahari-Edine (Quarto), Fabiana Angelini (Flammarion Jeunesse - Casterman) Moderation: Nicolas Roche (BIEF)

  • 11.45pm-12.45pm Importance and difficulties around promoting authors or artists outside of their home territories with Sam Arthur (Nobrow), Daniel Hahn (Translator), Claude Combet (Livres Hebdo) Moderation: Lucie Campos (Institut français du Royaume-Uni)

  • 2pm-6.30pm One-to-one meetings

  • 6.30pm Cocktail reception
